Changes to fares from Monday 21st April 2008

Local bus operator Renown Cavendish is set to increase fares from Monday 21st April 2008.

The adult single fare within the town will see a rise of 10p with the return ticket will remain £2.

Child fares are unaffected as is the Green Rover day ticket at £2.50. Weekly tickets are reduced to £9 to reward regular travelers.

Holders of the new County Cards introduced as part of the countrywide Concessionary Travel Scheme, will face a new charge of 80p for journeys started before 9.00 am on Mondays to Fridays, but will be able to travel free after 9.00 and at any time on Saturdays.

Eastbourne Fares

Adult single increased by 10p to £1.40

Adult return stays at £2

Hailsham Fares

Hailsham single increase from £1.80 to £2 and return to £2.30

(Local fare within the Stone Cross to Beachlands section stays at £1 adult, 50p child)

Fares beyond Stone Cross to Westham, Pevensey and Beachlands

Adult fares stay the same at £1.50 single and £2.50 return

All Services

Child single remains at 80p and return £1

Countycard before 0900 remains at 80p

Green Rover day ticket stays at £2.50

Weekly reduced to £9

Countycards from 1st April 2008.

The Concessionary Fares Scheme is now a nationwide scheme throughout England and started on 1st April 2008.

PASSES ARE NOT GENERALLY ACCEPTED FOR FREE TRAVEL BEFORE 09.30 HRS ON MONDAYS TO FRIDAYS.

Normal Adult Rates apply.

HOWEVER IN CERTAIN DISTRICT COUNCIL AREAS THE CONCESSION IS AVAILABLE FROM 0900 HRS ON MONDAYS TO FRIDAYS.

In Sussex the situation is mixed and it depends exactly where you board the bus.

In Arun, Brighton and Hove, Crawley, Eastbourne, Horsham, Mid-Sussex, Rother and Wealden you may use the pass from 0900 hrs.

In Adur, Chichester, Hastings, Lewes and Worthing you may only use the pass from 0930 hrs.

These time restrictions apply on Mondays to Fridays. You may use the pass AT ANY TIME ON SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS.

These conditions apply to all operators.

As an additional concession Renown Cavendish permit card holders to travel on services 8, 8A, 9, 10, 11 and 18 in the Eastbourne area before 0900 hrs on Mondays to Fridays on payment of child rate of 80p.
